Shoaib Malik, the Pakistani cricket all-rounder, has been making headlines recently due to his marriage to actress Sana Javed, which followed rumors of his divorce from Indian tennis star Sania Mirza. Despite the off-field drama, Malik achieved a significant cricketing milestone by becoming the first Asian player and the second overall to score 13,000 runs in T20 cricket. This accomplishment took place during a Bangladesh Premier League (BPL) match between Fortune Barishal and Rangpur Riders. Chris Gayle is the other player in this elite list.
Additionally, during the same match, Malik took a wicket, contributing to his team’s victory. While he has retired from Test and ODI cricket, he continues to play in the T20 format and remains available for selection in the T20 World Cup 2024.
Malik officially announced his second marriage to popular Pakistani actor Sana Javed in Karachi, thereby putting an end to the speculations regarding his separation from Indian tennis star Sania Mirza. He shared a wedding photograph with his new wife on the social media platform X, captioned with the words “And We created you in pairs.”
Reports of differences between 41-year-old Shoaib Malik and Sania Mirza had been circulating since 2022, and the couple had been rarely seen together in recent years. Malik had even unfollowed Sania on Instagram. Their five-year-old son, Izaan, lives with Sania.
According to a family source, Sania initiated the divorce proceedings, and it was described as a ‘khula,’ which refers to the right of a Muslim woman to unilaterally divorce her husband. Shoaib and Sania had originally tied the knot in April 2010 in Sania’s hometown of Hyderabad, India, and had been residing in Dubai.
Sania’s social media posts also hinted at her being under stress during this period.
